Towards the beach !

Like an air of Brazil blowing in my kitchen.

A desire for sun, beach and samba... I admit... I'm overcome by football fever!

I wanted to try a cocktail that Brazilians love, the "Limonada Brasileira".

It is a lemonade made with Brazilian limes, sweetened condensed milk and crushed ice.

At first glance, it may scare some, but you only have to taste it to immediately understand why Brazilians love this sweet, fresh and tangy drink.

Towards the beach !
Amount : 4 glasses

Cook time 0 minutes
Total 15 minutes

Ingredients
  • 3 Brazilian limes if possible with rather thin skin
  • 1 L of cold water
  • 200 g ice cubes
  • 100 g light brown sugar
  • 1/2 can of sweetened condensed milk 200g
Prepare in advance
  • Take 3 Brazilian limes (if possible with a rather thin skin) and cut each of them into 8.
  • Put them in the bowl of a blender with their skin on, and add the cold water and ice cubes. Mix for a few minutes to obtain a uniform and milky mixture.
  • Pass the liquid through a Chinese to remove the remaining pulp and peel.
  • Add the brown sugar and the contents of half a can of sweetened condensed milk. (The sugar level may seem enormous but it counterbalances the acidity of the lemon juice…).
  • Mix well and pour into cocktail glasses with ice cubes.

  1. Mmmmh! Thanks for this delicious recipe!!! I definitely have to try it! What's special about Brazilian limes compared to others? Is it to respect the origin of the recipe?

Hello Vanessa, the lemons I used are from "Brazil" but you can try them with others too. You have to choose them with a fairly thin skin if possible. See you soon

Made the recipe, came out rather bitter. It must be the type of limes as I'm not sure what a Brazilian lime is like.. Another time I'll try to zest the limes and get rid of the white part (where the bitterness is). Is the pulp of the lime an important part of the recipe (ie for texture, foaming, etc) or would it be better to just use zest and juice?

    1. Hi, for this recipe, use the entire lime because sweetened condensed milk is soooo sweet that it'll balance it everything at the end. I don't know where you come from but here in France we don't like much sugar nor in drinks nor in food :)

Hello, in my family we are not too fond of lemon zest so I put 2 lemons without skin and one with and it's perfect.
